Information You Provide
When you opt to send us a message using the contact form embedded on this website, we collect personal information about you. This is limited only to the information which you choose to enter. This will include:
- Your name
- Contact details, such as an email address or a telephone number
- The content of your message
When you submit Challenge data to the Pilning Hall of Fame (Challenges subsite), you provide personal information. This includes:
- Your name
- A nickname of your choice
- Your email address
- Further, optional, contact details such as your Twitter username and a telephone number
- Information relating to the challenge you are submitting, such as routeing/station information, ticketing information, the type of challenge and the date undertaken, and any further comments you wish to add.
Some information on the Hall of Fame site is made public. Where this is the case, we make this clear at the point of collection. This is used to credit you on the Pilning Hall of Fame leaderboard.
On some pages of our websites it may be possible to leave a comment. In this instance, the information collected will include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The text of your comment
Information We Collect
This website collects certain metadata information about your computer and your visits to and use of this website. This is used to understand who is visiting the website, and to provide a better user experience. Such information includes:
- The IP address of your computer or your internet connection
- The page(s) on the site you have visited
- Whether or the request was successful
- Information about your operating system and web browser, including version numbers
- Your interaction with this website
- Information from cookies
Cookies and Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to understand who is visiting the website, and to provide a better user experience. Google Analytics collects first-party cookies, data related to the device/browser, IP address and on-site/app activities to measure and report statistics about user interactions on the websites and/or apps that use Google Analytics. This website anonymises all information which is sent to Google’s servers, and additionally allows you to opt out of receiving the cookies relevant to the Google Analytics programme.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Authorised users logging into the site will be set a cookie by the authentication mechanism. These remain valid for five days.
The Pilning Hall of Fame and Picture of the Day sub-sites will set a session cookie to allow you to log your challenge or image data, and allow your entered information to remain available to the server until completion. Once you close your browser, or browse away from the website, this cookie is removed. Where you submit multiple challenges, the cookie may be reused (this does not perform any tracking) or re-set with a different unique ID.
No other Pilning Station Group sites or subsites set or retain cookies.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with
Non-anonymised data will not be shared with any party other than Pilning Station Group, except to the extent that we are required to do so by law or where we have your explicit consent.
Information provided by you on the Pilning Hall of Fame and Picture of the Day sub-sites which is marked as public will be published on this website, on the Pilning Station Twitter account, or any other websites operated by Pilning Station Group. Only that personal data you choose to present to us, and which is clearly marked as being public, will be shared in this manner.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Any query made through the website will be retained until such point it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected.
Information and images submitted through the Pilning Hall of Fame and Picture of the Day sub-sites will be retained as long as we have your permission to continue to do so. You consent to Pilning Station Group holding this information, and you may withdraw your consent at any time. Drop us an email using the details below if you would like to do this.
What rights you have over your data
If you have provided information to Pilning Station Group in any form, including any personal information we may have collected, you are entitled to request a copy of that personal data.
You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Additional Information
Data Storage
We use a select number of suppliers to support the provision of our services. For example, data is processed using an email service provider and website host provider. Where we use any such sub-processors, we undertake prior due diligence to confirm that they meet recognised adequacy standards for data protection; this includes any that are located outside of the European Union or EEA.
Security of Information
We take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. Any personal information you provide is stored only on secure (password- and firewall-protected) servers. You acknowledge that the transmission of information over the internet is inherently insecure, and Pilning Station Group cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change from time to time. The latest effective date will be highlighted at the top of the policy information. We will also publish the last changes made to this policy.
Where there are any changes made to this policy which affect the data currently held about you, we will make all reasonable endeavours to contact you, using any contact information you provided at the point of collection (see above).
Managing your data
Your data belongs to you. You may request from us, details of the personal information we hold about you and how we are processing it.
Where notified, we will amend your data, including where you provide us with additional information to complete your record.
Where you have previously consented to us using your data, you may withdraw this consent at any time.
You may request that we restrict the use of your data, where you believe:
- the data we hold about you is inaccurate
- the processing of your data is not lawful
- your data no longer needs to be used for the purpose that it was originally provided
- where you object to the use of your data for specific purposes
You may have the right to request to transfer your data in a machine-readable format to your own store or another provider.
Should you no longer wish to engage with Pilning Station Group, you may have the right to request erasure of your details from our systems.
